Thanks, Megan! I appreciate that! ๐Ÿ™‚ I wish I had photos of the towel critters that were left in Son’s room … elephant, monkey, etc. So much fun! Gotta love “fresh and fabulous” seafood, fruit, and veggies. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It was lovely, Lisa–thanks so much! Seafood ceviche is something we don’t eat often enough. It’s as tender as butter when the ingredients are fresh!

Thanks, Audrey! Simple desserts are the very best and while we didn’t eat them all the time, when we did, we certainly enjoyed them. The fruit “salad” (their term) without the sorbet, made a great breakfast, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love your report Shirley. Your story inspires me to try a trip to Mexico. Did you find it was fairly easy to eat gluten free on your trip?

Thanks, Sandi! I’m pretty bad about getting home and getting caught up in life and not reporting to everyone, hence, the quick summary post. But I do plan to do another post on the food details in the next few days. The answer to your question on whether it was fairly easy to eat gluten free is the usual one, “yes” and “no.” ๐Ÿ˜‰ Will explain soon.

Yay, Erika! I’m glad I gave you a “mini-mental vacation”! I admit that seeing others’ trip photos is one of my favorite things. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I think hotel experiences everywhere could be greatly improved with towel critters! Son got an elephant, a monkey, and more. ๐Ÿ™‚

We are headed to Cozumel in just a few months. What were the names of the restaurants that were able to accommodate gluten free meals? BTW… Your pictures are beautiful!

Hi Paula–I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to respond to you when you left this comment. My father had just passed away when I read your comment and I wasn’t up to being online much/replying to comments at the time. Then it slipped my mind until I was thinking about our last trip to Cozumel today. I hope I didn’t miss your window. I have always had good experiences at Especias (under new ownership the last few years and Italian now, but still had a good experience), Casa Mission, Wet Wendy’s, El Moro, and Pancho’s Backyard (beware of meat being marinated in soy sauce). You still have to do your “due diligence” at any of these restaurants and I do recommend that you print out one of the free allergy cards that you can find online in Spanish to give to servers when needed. I also always recommend focusing on foods that are naturally gluten free to start (e.g. steamed seafood, grilled fish). So then you have less questions to ask if that makes sense. Hope that helps and thanks for the kind words on my photos! One day I’ll write a follow-up post to this one. Hope you have a great trip!

      Shirley
