Next weekend, on Saturday, October 16, the second annual Gluten Sensitivity and Celiac Forum is being held in Palo Alto, CA. Hosted by HealthNOW Medical Center, speakers will be Dr. Rodney Ford, Dr. Vikki Petersen, Dr. Tom O’Bryan, and Cynthia Kupper—all of whom are making huge in-roads in the areas of gluten sensitivity and celiac. The goal is to increase awareness on both and educate the community so they can see that being gluten-free could benefit their health. The tickets are only $40 (if purchased in advance) for this full day event including lunch. There will be over 20 local vendors offering samples of exclusively gluten-free food (e.g., French bread, ravioli, cupcakes, cream puffs, biscotti, pies). There will also be giveaways at the event with prizes such as baskets full of gluten-free wares from Kinnikinnick and Trader Joe’s, copies of The Gluten Effect, and free consultations with the doctors. Read more and purchase tickets here.
Gosh, I wish I could attend, but I’ll just be back from BlogHer Food in San Francisco (where I am now!). A girl needs to spend some time at home with her family, her cat, her chinchilla, her fish, and more. But if you are looking to hear some of the brightest, most inspiring minds on the gluten sensitivity and celiac topic, make plans to be at this forum. Even if you are not local to California, there have been some great airfare deals of late. (Only pack a carry-on—as Diane has taught me to do—and you can even save on those pesky baggage fees!)
In conjunction with this event, I’m hosting a giveaway courtesy of Dr. Petersen and HealthNOW Medical Center. After you finish reading here, head on over to my Out and About page to check it out. It’s a gfe giveaway so you know it’s along the lines of real food products, a real food cookbook, or a reference book for your bookshelf!
