When: Sunday, September 29, 4:00 pm
Where: Padovan-Hickman Family’s home; Biota Farm; 15330 Round Hill Road, King George VA 22485; 540-775-2963
What: We held our annual picnic event earlier in July at Biota Farm, but due to an email glitch, few members actually received the announcement and of those who did even fewer were able to attend. Although we still had a great time, we’re having a “do over.” Many thanks to the Padovan-Hickman Family—Steve, DeLaura, Tara, and Maren—for being willing to host twice this year! This is the fourth year that we’ve gathered at Biota. Each time we’ve had great fun with delicious gluten-free fare! Honestly, there’s not much that beats being on the Padovan-Hickman farm.
We’ll have guest speakers for this event. Kathy Craddock, who belongs to our group (and also leads the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania R.O.C.K. group for gluten-free kids and their families), and Brandi Fishback will be with us. They are the co-owners of Kickshaws Downtown Market that will be opening in the spring in Fredericksburg. Kickshaws will offer whole and organic foods, and gluten-free items–yay! They’ll tell us much more about their plans at the picnic, but you can go ahead and check out their website and follow them on Facebook, as well if you like.
Final notes … DeLaura says they have quite a few chairs, but you should probably throw a camping chair in your car just in case. If the day should turn out to be a cooler one, rest assured that Steve and DeLaura will have a nice bonfire going and their cozy log cabin will be available if needed. Families and friends of yours are welcome to attend with you, of course! That’s always the case with our meetings anyway, but more seem to turn out for our picnic events. 🙂 Hope you can join us!
