When:  Monday, September 13, 6:00 pm, National Celiac Awareness Day (Thanks for that reminder, Heidi!)

Where: Shirley’s Home in King George, VA
(Note: Please email Shirley for directions if you are local and plan to attend.)

What:  This is our regular monthly meeting. We’ll begin with our shared gluten-free meal (many items will also be dairy free, refined sugar free, etc., but all delicious).  It will again be a potluck this time … no theme.

Regrettably, our planned speaker, Cheryl Harris, will not be able to be with us on Monday evening after all. (We will definitely reschedule with her for a later date!) However, we will still meet Monday at 6:00 at my house as planned. As we have several folks joining us who are new to living gluten free, I’m asking everyone to bring their best tips for eating gluten free easily (gfe!). Even if you have a few products/foods (real food, mainstream gluten free, and/or specialty gluten free) that have saved you, you can bring those to show to others or just tell folks about them. Please also bring a pen and paper because as much as some of us know about living gluten free, I’ve found there’s always something to learn from someone else … and sometimes it’s hard to remember tidbits and product names, etc. I know that we will all benefit from this discussion and “round table” of sorts. 🙂

I look forward to seeing you all as well as our very informative, “self-taught” meeting!

Shirley
Not just gf, but gfe!
Our speaker will be Cheryl Harris of Harris Whole Health and Gluten-Free Goodness. Cheryl (full bio) has a Master’s Degree in Public Health Nutrition from the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University.  She has worked as a Registered Dietitian and nutritionist for the past 10 years. Cheryl will be speaking on a healthy gluten-free diet. It will be such an honor to have Cheryl with us in person. She will be driving down from Alexandria, VA and returning home after her presentation, so we will start the presentation as quickly as possible after dinner.
