Home for the Holidays: Week 4 and Final Prize Giveaway Winners, Including Vitamix Grand Prize!

Full disclosure:  The following giveaways were sponsored by the applicable parties (e.g., authors, publishers, companies), except for some Easy Eats subscriptions, the copies of Dangerous Grainsthe e-book Eat Fresh and D-Tox Your Life,  and Tropical Traditions Organic Coconut Flour, which were sponsored by gfe.

So here we are on Christmas Day and it’s time to announce all the latest winners for our Home for the Holidays … Gluten-Free Style event, including our final prizes, especially that grand prize winner! In a way it feels like it was a long time ago that we kicked off our event, but in other ways, it seems like our series has flown by! I’ve totally enjoyed our event and from the many positive and heartwarming comments left, I know that you all have, too. Of course, believe me when I tell you that all of us bloggers participating had as much fun as you did! We all truly appreciate your comments and overall support of our holiday event! It was our goal to bring so many gluten-free bloggers and gluten-free readers together … to introduce new folks to each other … to share holiday memories and traditions (old and new) … to share holiday recipes that we’ve created or recreated to be gluten free and often “more-free” … and to share all the valuable resources available to the gluten-free community (e.g., non-fiction “guidebooks,” cookbooks, magazines, apps, “real food” gluten-free products,  and amazing kitchen equipment) While we’re all together, I’d also like to extend our wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Holidays all the way ‘round to you all!

First, here are our special giveaway winners …

The new winner of a Delight magazine subscription. Brandae can’t tolerate corn so she passed on her prize of Jules Gingerbread/Graham Cracker mix to a friend. I didn’t want her to be without a prize, so she’s getting a Delight magazine subscription.  (FYI:  Delight has a buy one, get one half off deal right now!) Here’s her comment on my post on Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate and GlutenTox plus more.

Brandae–”What a great post.  I’m really curious how your next test for the suspect ingredient goes.  I’m so thankful for all of the education, recipes, encouragement, and fun that bloggers like you bring to all of us.  This series has been spectacular, and I appreciate the time and energy you’ve invested. The salted caramel hot chocolate sounds wonderful…I’ll have to add it to my ever-growing list.”

The second winner of 7 Quick Start Tips for Living a Healthy Gluten-Free Fit Life E-Book

Megan H.–”First off, this recipe looks sooooo good! I have all the ingredients except the buckwheat flour, so I know what I’ll be picking up at the store this week! Of your prizes, I would love to win the Gluten Free Asian Kitchen cookbook. I think it would definitely inspire me to cook and recreate gluten and dairy-free versions of the same food I ate when I lived there. As for the holidays, we have a nice Christmas Eve dinner with family, either at home or at our favorite local restaurant, then we would go to a late mass.”

The winner of Simply … Gluten-Free Desserts and Carol’s Amazing All-Purpose Gluten-Free Pastry Flour mix:

Rebecca A.—“I will have to try these out once I make my dairy free white chocolate that is waiting to be made. They are 2 and 5 so it takes a lot not to get involved but they are so proud of themselves when they are done.”

The first winner of Gluten-Free Cupcakes:

Amy Nico–“Hi Lillian! I tweeted you! I’m so excited to find you and that your grain free too! I’ve been trying really hard to stick to my new diet plan. My hubby and I want to have babies! Hope you have a merry Christmas and thanks for the awesome Chocolate Silk Pie Video. It looks so yummy and can’t wait to try it! Blessings!

The second winner of Gluten-Free Cupcakes:

teri schaubert–“It is SO great to see gluten free options like this!!! the holidays can be so discouraging when it comes to eating or participating in get-togethers involving food. so often it seems that we “settle” for a less tasty version of a good dish… I am so looking forward to trying options like this pie. please keep great stuff like this coming!!”

**************************Day 26 ~ me, Shirley, with Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate (made using Salted Caramel Sauce from Kim at Cook IT Allergy Free)

The winner of Dangerous Grains:

Amy—“That hot chocolate sounds yummy! I’m always excited when I find something we all can try with our various allergies. I had never heard of the testing kits – thanks for sharing them!”

The winner of Healthier Without Wheat:

Megan R—“Thank you for doing this contest! I now have some awesome recipes for my cookbook! Can’t wait to see who won!”

The first winner of GlutenTox Home Kit:

Heather–”That hot chocolate sounds AWESOME!!! I’ve actually never heard of salted caramels before..but I’ve never drank at Starbucks either (I’m not a coffee person). But any hot cocoa sounds great to me..it’s chocolate!! ha ha! So I’ll definitely have to give this one a go. I continued reading though and was surprised by the gluten tox kit…and finding ‘certified gf’ items that were contaminated w/gluten. I kinda feel like i can’t trust anything now, especially if something that’s supposedly ‘certified gf’ is glutenated. I get the Food for Life english muffins for my kiddos all the time and now…dangit…just ticks me off that it’s probably glutenated. The gluten tox kits sound awesome in testing to see if there’s gluten…but impractical if you need to test a whole bunch on your grocery list.particularly if the kits are expensive. And by the way that gluten watchdog group makes it sound…there’s a LOT more glutenated stuff out there than I previously thought. Probably a lot more on my own grocery list. Ugh. Just depressing. It amazes me that there’s a kit out there though that tests down to 3 ppm. That’s awesome! Why doesn’t gf food producers use THIS kit?!! Would save us all a lot of trouble, wouldn’t it? Thanks for the contest and the eye opener on the products GFE! I’m posting this to my FB page right now. Enter me in this contest…i’d love to give one of those kits a go!”

The second winner of GlutenTox Home Kit:

Karol—“The Glutentox kit would be great to win.”

Now for those final giveaway winners …

The winner of the Caveman Cookies gift package ($89 value) who left a comment on Carol’s Baked Eggs Florentine post:

Linda S.–“I love the hanging out with family over the holidays…just spending time together enjoying being together!”

The winner of the $150 shopping spree from Free From Gluten (freefromgluten.com) who left a comment on Sunny’s (And Love It, Too!) post for Chocolate Pecan “Toll House” Pie.

Cindy W.–“One of my favorites is my date bars.  I have not tried making them since going gf but I am going to try this year.”

And … the proverbial drum roll please … the winner of the GRAND PRIZE, a Vitamix 5200 Super Healthy Lifestyle Package with the gluten-free e-cookbook, Eat Fresh and D-Tox Your Life:

Amy Whitehurst! Amy left the winning comment on Gigi’s (Gluten-Free Gigi) post on Magical Seven-Layer Bars.

“Thank you for the recipe! I’d like the 7 Quick Start Tips e-book! My favorite all time Christmas food is the simple, basic chocolate chip cookie! Thanks again and have a great holiday!”

Congratulations to Amy, this week’s winners, and all the previous winners during our event! Thanks so much to all of you who faithfully participated in this event each and every day or even if you only popped in from time to time during this busy holiday season. I’d like to think that those of you who didn’t actually “walk away” with one of the giveaway prizes feel the same way that reader Joanne does … “I would love to win a giveaway but I feel I am already a winner with all the great info I learn.” Many thanks to our numerous and generous sponsors and many thanks as well to all our participating bloggers!

All winners will be contacted by email shortly. If you are certain from the information shared that you are one of the winners, please feel free to email me with your name and mailing address. If you were waiting to order a Vitamix as your holiday present, but wanted to wait to see if you won first, you can get free shipping on your order—a $25 value—by using the affiliate code of one of our participating bloggers who’s a Vitamix affiliate. Click on one of the following to use their affiliate codes:  Ali (The Whole Life Nutrition Kitchen), Diane (The Whole Gang), Heidi (Adventures of a Gluten-Free Mom), or Carol (Simply … Gluten-Free), or you can order the Vitamix 5200 via Amazon (without the grains container).

Thank you for the compensation prize of the gift subscription to Delight magazine. It was such an unexpected surprise for you to offer me another prize when I realized that the Jules mixes had corn as an ingredient. My friend who will receive the mixes will surely be as thrilled as I am – she isn’t online much nor does she have time to invest in baking from scratch. The mixes will be very helpful to her – and hopefully she’ll become a regular customer for Jules too! :) I am very excited to get the magazines. Thank you again for everything you contribute to the blog community. You are very appreciated.
