Today I’m sharing a sampling of the best gluten-free macadamia cookie recipes for National Macadamia Nut Day (September 4), which just passed, including the much loved, classic Gluten-Free White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies.
The term Macadamia Nut cookies seems very redundant, doesn’t it? But that seems to be the way that cookies with macadamias are usually referenced.
Anyway … are you excited? I sure am! Admittedly, macadamia cookies are not ones that I enjoy often. Macadamias are definitely pricier nuts but they are most definitely a favorite. (Note: I can actually get them cheaper at my local grocery store than I can online.)
I really thought we needed a collection of these treats that we could call on any time the macadamia cookie craving hits!
There’s no doubt that the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies are the most popular macadamia cookies by far but I’ve included a few other recipes here that you’ll also definitely want to try.Different flavor combinations such as carrot cake macadamia cookies (carrot cake anything is always welcome!); some “tipsy” ones with pineapple, mango, coconut, and rum added (sounds like a party in a cookie to me!); and even some with the additions of cranberries or cherries (both are very holiday-worthy, I’d say!).
But that’s not all of the delicious gluten-free macadamia nut cookie options so, be sure to check out the complete listing below.
Incidentally, I love that some of these cookie recipes require only a small amount of macadamia nuts, a measurement of ½ cup or less in some of these recipes. That means that if you splurge on a pound—or even half of a pound of macadamias—for the recipes that only need a handful of macadamias, you can potentially make more than one batch of cookies to enjoy. I love that!
Personally, I’d recommend popping the remaining macadamias in the freezer until you’re ready to make another batch or another recipe in this collection. But that’s just me. I tend to be weak when it comes to very delicious nuts—and macadamias are most definitely delicious!
Incidentally, I was today years old when I learned how difficult it is to remove macadamia nuts from their shells. It seems that unless you’re a fierce wild critter with powerful incisors, this feat is best accomplished by experienced professionals with special equipment. Macadamias are billed as the hardest nuts in the world. So just purchase whatever amount you need ready to go for your cookies of choice!
Finally, I can’t help but think what a lovely holiday gift these cookies would be for a gluten-free family member or friend. We can’t find safe options for these beloved cookies just anywhere. That’s another reason it’s been a good while since I have enjoyed any myself. But I’d love it if a trusted gluten-free friend made a batch of White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies for me! It would bring a whole new meaning to white Christmas—right?!—but I’ll take them any time of year. I bet you will, too!
