I thought it was high time for the Best Gluten-Free English Muffin Recipes featured on gfe to have a solo spotlight and April 23, which is English Muffin Day just passed so, here we are! (Previously, you could find the English Muffin recipes in this part of my ongoing Bountiful Bread Basket series.) Plus, I wanted to add the additional new and terrific English muffin recipes I’ve discovered recently. Spoiler alert: You’re going to love them all!
Note that the best gluten-free English Muffin recipes are labeled for additional allergy-free and special diet status according to the individual authors’ labeling and the information available from their posts. However, I do not label recipes as nut-free unless the author has identified them that way as I don’t know the nut-free status of individual ingredients.

~ Gluten-Free English Muffins from Simply Quinoa~ gluten free, dairy free, egg free, vegetarian
Reader reviews: “I just wanted to say THANK YOU SOOOOO Much for this recipe! These are just… Wonderful… Perfect… So delicious I ate five (FIVE) of the six the batch yielded… I replaced the sorghum and the tapioca fours with 1 cup of my gluten free flour blend (which has both flours in it) and then ate them with vegan butter. This will become my go to recipe for English muffins and gluten free flat bread. Thank you very much!” and “Made these this week but added 2 Tbsp of sugar because the quinoa I get is a tad bitter, even with rinsing, and I ground my quinoa into flour, have never found quinoa flakes. Even so, they were wonderful; beautifully moist and “bendable” for two full days at room temp (all sealed up). Then I froze them to prevent them getting any drier, will warm them with a tad bit of water to try & rehydrate. This will be a favorite of mine for sure.”

~ Gluten-Free Quinoa English Muffins from Wendy Polisi ~ gluten free, dairy free, egg free, refined sugar free, vegetarian, vegan
Wendy’s English muffins are made with a gluten-free flour blend that includes toasted quinoa flour (toasting quinoa flour removes any bitterness and adds a nutty factor). About her English muffins, she says: “They are just so darn good that even my hubby – who could generally be categorized as a bread hater – can’t pass them up. I’ve been making these for a few months now, and the kids still cheer when they realize I’m making them.
I love that not only do they work great as a quick breakfast, but they are also sensational for sandwiches and veggie burgers. They are a little bit of work to make, but they make a dozen and freeze well, so I’ve always found the effort well worth it. I just bought more muffin rings so that I could double the recipe and stock my freezer.”

The muffins are soft, moist and yet have a crunchy crust. They rise beautifully, have great texture. I made them savory, with just sea salt for seasoning and they didn’t taste “eggy” to me or to other people who tried them.”

Shirley,
All of these muffin recipes look amazing. English muffins have always been one of my favorites. Certainly enough recipes to choose from here. I’m enjoying looking through them. Thanks

Thanks, Judee! Personally, I really like the quick and easy microwave recipes, especially the grain-free ones, because most of the time I would be making them just for me and I prefer eating grain free as much as possible! But as you say, there are so many recipes for readers to choose from, which is always my goal. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks Shirley for all the English Muffins. So nice to see some that are EGG FREE! I do not currently have a recipe for them so now I will have to give one of these a try.

You’re welcome, Pat! You know how much I love it when I can give folks new options for GF living! I’m looking forward to trying one of the quick and easy recipes in this collection. And then another and another. I used to love English muffins before going GF.
