Today, January 30, is National Croissant Day, which reminded me that I wanted to share the best gluten-free Croissant Recipes and Crescent Roll Recipes with you! Yes, most—but not all—of these recipes have been here on gfe all along.
Originally, most of these recipes were in another post in the Bountiful Bread Basket series that also included recipes for gluten-free breadsticks, English muffins, and soft pretzels. I do love a huge collection of recipes but that one was too much—even for me!
Plus, the best gluten-free croissant recipes and crescent roll recipes deserve their own collection and, again, I have a few new recipes to share with you. The more beautiful, buttery, mouth-watering croissant and crescent roll goodness, the better, right?
How Are Croissants and Crescent Rolls Different?

~ Gluten-Free Crescent Rolls from Life After Wheat ~ gluten free, vegetarian, with dairy-free, refined sugar-free options
Reader reviews: “I just wanted to let you know that I made these and they came out great! I used your flour blend, but substituted arrowroot for the tapioca as I am allergic to tapioca.” and “I made these on Sunday and they turned out amazing! (Which is a first for homemade-gluten-free for me – so THANK YOU!)” and “These are THE best GF rolls I have found. My family asks for them every holiday now (even those who are not GF prefer them)!!” and “I used this dough for cinnamon rolls Christmas morning. AMAZING!!”
~ Gluten-Free Crescent Rolls from The Loopy Whisk ~ gluten free, gum free, vegetarian
Kat says: “These are the softest and the fluffiest gluten free crescent rolls you’ll ever taste – and they’re incredibly easy to make! The dough handles beautifully: you can knead it and shape it without any problems. You’d honestly never know that these rolls are gluten free, they’re perfectly squishy and even non-gluten-free folks will love them.”
Reader reviews: “We loved this recipe so much!” and “Truly amazing. I almost cried when I took the first bite as these tasted exactly like my Mom’s yeast rolls that I’ve had to miss out on for the last 8 years since I’ve gone gluten free. They’re the things I’ve missed the most, and now I can have them! Thank you so much! I used the oat flour substitution for the sorghum flour and kneaded them by hand and they turned out beautifully.” and “I made these crescent rolls last week and the texture of the bread was spot on! So soft and fluffy!”
~ Gluten-Free Croissants from The Nomadic Fitzpatricks ~ gluten free, vegetarian
Jen says: “Oh yes, my friend. Gluten-free croissants are here, and they are incredible!”
Reader reviews: “We’ll I just tried this recipe last night. I’d just like to say thank you for sharing it. Came out fantastic with a flavor, yes just like regular croissant. :)”
~ Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free Crescent Rolls from The Rice of Life ~ gluten free, dairy free, nut free, vegetarian

~ New & Improved Gluten-Free Croissants from Let Them Eat Gluten-Free Cake ~ gluten free, vegetarian
Kim says: “Buttery, flaky, feathery, and light. We didn’t think these gluten-free croissants could get any better, but yet here they are in all their glory!! These new and improved gluten-free croissants will ROCK YOUR WORLD!”
Reader reviews: “My 14-year-old son, who has coeliac disease, asked me if we could try making gluten-free croissants. We were blown away by the result! The croissants were incredibly light and flaky – I wouldn’t have imagined that anything gluten-free could have that texture. I can see that we’ll be making a lot more of these! my son is over the moon with his first proper croissant in 7 years. You wouldn’t believe how quickly they are disappearing!” and “Thank you for a great recipe. My daughter’s celiac boyfriend said they were amazing – they didn’t taste like a gluten-free product!! They looked fabulous too.”
~ Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Egg-Free Croissants from Adventures of a Gluten-Free Mom ~ gluten free, dairy free, egg free, vegetarian, vegan (Note that this recipe can also be used for Cinnamon Rolls as Heidi details in her post.)
Reader reviews: “Made the dough three days ago. Baked the crescent rolls yesterday and the cinnamon rolls this morning. Thank you so much for posting this recipe. Now my daughters and I can celebrate our Christmas Eve properly with rolls and Christmas morning those cinnamon rolls will be right there next to our Mimosas and Espresso! It’s an even better tradition now, 30 years later. You have made my job as the GF/DF/EG chef better than ever!” and “These came out fantastic.”
~ Gluten-Free Homemade Croissants from Gluten-Free Gobsmacked ~ gluten free, vegetarian
Reader reviews: “OK…You win! The best GF anything I have had so far! We were all in heaven. Half were plain (with apricot jam, of course) and half were chocolate. I made a firm ganache for the center so that it wouldn’t harden after it was cool. I was surprised how rich they are. Even though I wanted to eat more, I could just do two!” and“Thank you so much for creating this recipe. I finally had time to make these and they were terrific. Croissants were the one food that my daughter mourned when we all went gluten free 3 years ago. She was so proud that “her” croissants came out perfectly.”
~ Gluten-Free Puff Pastry Almond “Croissants” from The Loopy Whisk ~ gluten free, vegetarian
Kat uses her Quick and Easy Gluten-Free Puff Pastry recipe to make these gorgeous and popular croissants.
Reader reviews: “This recipe is fantastic and the croissants just as good as any I’ve had in Europe! I was a little intimidated at first but the step by step instructions were easy to follow. I’ve tried unsuccessfully in the past to make puff pastry. Your recipe is easier and results in that layered flakiness I’d hoped to achieve. I’ll make these again and again!” and “This recipe was gobbled up by my two children and then got very positive reviews from a gluten free family friend (child).” and “I made these this weekend and they were amazing! I used your flour blend (rather than doves farm), and topped with blitzed pistachios instead, and these are absolutely going to be a firm favourite in our house!!”
~ Homemade Gluten-Free Crescent Rolls from MI Gluten-Free Gal ~ gluten free, vegetarian
Margaret says: “While I could easily keep these delicious gluten-free crescent rolls to myself, I recommend sharing them with those you love. One, because they’ll know you’re a baking badass superstar. Most importantly, we deserve to be included in social situations. Even if you just have a friend over for tea and rolls with jam, live gluten free, proudly.” Indeed! Margaret also uses this recipe to make yummy Pigs in a Blanket, Resurrection Rolls, and more. Read more in her post.

Thank you so much, what a treat after years of no crescent rolls!! ♥️” and “Wow, these were absolutely delicious!” and “Finally made these GF crescent rolls last night, and a second batch as pigs-in-the-blanket. They turned out fantastic and yummy! Family enjoyed snacking on them. They were much easier than I expected to make, and had a nice light, buttery taste.”
~ Incredibly Easy Gluten-Free Crescent Rolls (“Almost Croissants”) from Gluten-Free Home Bakery ~ gluten free, vegetarian
