How: Dr. Wangen will join us via Skype. He’ll be presenting on celiac/gluten intolerance and other food-related causes of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) as well as some other symptoms. A Q & A will follow Dr. Wangen’s presentation. Read more about Dr. Wangen below. (Note: Information comes from the IBS Treatment Center’s website.)

“Dr. Stephen Wangen is a state licensed and board certified physician. After graduating with honors in pre-med from Pacific Lutheran University he received his doctoral degree in naturopathic medicine from the internationally renowned Bastyr University in Seattle, WA. Dr. Wangen continues his association with Bastyr as an Affiliate Clinical Faculty of The School of Naturopathic Medicine. In his practice Dr. Wangen specializes in digestive disorders and food allergies and has first-hand experience with these, having himself been diagnosed with gluten intolerance in 1996, as well as a dairy allergy.

Due to a long history of success in treating common digestive disorders, and the tremendous need for a clinic focused on the treatment of these and IBS symptoms, Dr. Wangen founded the IBS Treatment Center in 2005, where he serves as Medical Director.

In addition to the IBS Treatment Center, Dr. Wangen also founded the Center for Food Allergies. His extensive clinical research into the relationship between food allergies and health has led to groundbreaking work on many conditions. He continues to investigate these issues as the Research Director of the Food Allergy and Intolerance Foundation, a nonprofit which supports the food allergy and intolerance communities by providing information, patient support, access to research and other tools.

Dr. Wangen also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Gluten Intolerance Group of North America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for people with gluten intolerance. Dr. Wangen’s enthusiasm for quality health care is the result of a lifelong interest in human potential.”

Dr. Wangen is also the author of Healthier Without Wheat and The Irritable Bowel Syndrome Solution. You may want to check out Dr. Wangen’s blog, Dr. Stephen Wangen:  The Gluten-Free Doctor, too.
