I’m not a big breakfast eater, as you know, Shirley, and I also have been battling arthritis in my hands. This smoothie has been helping me get some energy as well as to sneak in my Raw Apple Cider Vinegar remedy:
1 small apple, seeded and cored
    1 handful raw spinach
2 T Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (with the ‘mother’)
1 T natural honey (or more to taste)
1/3 c. water or a few ice cubes

My fave blender recipe is a blood pressure lowering smoothie. Both hibiscus tea and celery are good for lowering your BP. I brew 2 bags of Red Zinger tea in a cup of filtered water (which is made from hibiscus tea) – you can use Tazo passion tea, but the Red zinger has more flavor (I add a couple of drops of honey). I chop and add to the blender carafe 1 celery stalk, half of an apple, 4 frozen strawberries, a handful of frozen spinach and the brewed tea. I then add about a cup of whole or crushed ice. Can add chia seeds for added nutrition. Blend until desired consistency, pour in glass and enjoy. This makes 2 servings – I keep the 2nd serving in the fridge for the next day.

My favorite blender recipe is a homemade low-carb “ice cream” I make for my son. I defrost a package of berries – his favorite is raspberries. I pour in equal amounts of cream and berries, add stevia to taste, and maybe a touch of vanilla. Then I blend, and pour into a freezer container. Adding a sugar alcohol like xylitol helps to keep the ice cream from being rock solid. Or I simply pour it into smaller containers to freeze, and then put our 10-15 minutes before he’s going to eat it. Sara
