I love special cooling drinks during the summer—especially during the hottest days of summer that are expected over the next several days—and these Watermelon Strawberry Slushies qualify!
This recipe comes from my good friend Kim Maes (formerly Cook IT Allergy Free, now Healing the Gut but she’s mostly occupied at her family’s assisted living center these days). Kim has always been a whiz at making simple allergy-friendly recipes that everyone will love!
She also does an excellent job of sharing the health benefits of such recipes. When somebody is telling me why it’s a great idea for me to be slurping on Watermelon Strawberry Slushies, I’m all for that!
Kim says:
“This Allergy-Friendly Watermelon Strawberry Slushy “Recipe” is one of the quickest treats you can throw together on these sweltering summer days
….and I use the term recipe verrrry loosely since it almost really isn’t even a recipe.
…and I only say sweltering because it has been 110F here for the last seven days straight…with no end in sight.
This is such an easy drink to throw together…just throw the ingredients into the blender…turn on…voila. Simple Slushies.
And the best part is that you can also throw any of your leftovers into your popsicle molds and end up with a frozen treat just an hour or so later!
So if you are looking for simple ideas to stay cool and healthy this summer… this is an easy one.
Plus, just check out all of the great reasons you should be including watermelons and strawberries into your diet anyway… 😉
Kim also addresses the health benefits of these Watermelon Strawberry Slushies made exclusively of these two fruits that so many of us love—especially during the hot summer days.

Let The Kiddos Take These Outside!
And just a note of advice…with all of this red goodness, perhaps these are best consumed outside… 😉
This happened less than 2 minutes after I sent my boys and their drippy sticky fingers and faces outside and off of my couch … mama’s intuition!”
Shirley here: As someone who felt like I saw my life pass before me when a red drink was spilled on the white carpet of a beach vacation rental during a family vacation (hey, that security deposit was a lot of $$$$$), this is outstanding advice!
I encourage you to follow it and avoid the panic and solid hour of strenuous carpet cleaning—with a highly elevated heart rate no less—that I faced at that time. That was no fun for sure. Please avoid at all costs. 0/10 recommend.
